Obituary for Anthony Francis "Tony" Trapani

Anthony Francis Trapani (Tony), 93 of Pittsfield, MA passed away peacefully Monday November 29, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center after a short period of declining health.
He was born in Pittsfield, MA on February 1, 1928, son of the late Bruno and Francesca (Mastroianni) Trapani. He attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School with the class of 1944.
Tony was employed by General Electric Co. where he worked for 44 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a union steward and officer for IUE Local 254 for 34 years. For over 20 years, he helped out part-time at D & W Auto Repair. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Tony was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club and Pensioners Club. He was a member and director of the GEAA where he played golf. He played fast-pitch softball for several GE teams and also played shortstop and third base for some early Tyler Aces teams. Tony enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, walking, telling jokes and playing cards/games. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as part of the CIHU Club (Character, Integrity, Honesty and Understanding), a club he created to guide them through life.
Besides his beloved wife of 72 years, Helen Mary (Skowronski) Trapani, Tony is survived by one son Bruce (Paula) Trapani of Orlando, FL and two daughters, Sharon (George) Ferry of Pittsfield and Rosanne Trapani of Enfield, CT. He will be deeply missed by his seven grandchildren of whom he was most proud; Jeffery Trapani (partner Aisha), Nicholas Trapani, Jonathan (Chantal) Ferry, Keith (Caitlin) Ferry, Mark (Rena) Ferry, Erik Waananen (partner Samantha), and Audrey Waananen. Tony also leaves five great grandchildren including Aidan Ferry, Logan Ferry, Adelyn Ferry, Sage Trapani and Eden Trapani and another great grandson expected in March; and three brothers including Joseph Trepani of Florida; Dominick Trapani of Pittsfield; and Mario (Marie) Trapani of Pittsfield; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his parents, Tony was predeceased by brothers John Trapani and Rocco Trapani.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Anthony Trapani will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Friday December 3, 2021 at St. Joseph's Church, 414 North Street, Pittsfield with Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, Pastor, officiating. To best ensure everyone's health and safety, masks must be worn and social distancing practiced. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
