Obituary for Dorothy May Kirby (Fisk)
Dorothy May (Fisk) Kirby, 89 of North Adams, MA died on Friday, February 18, 2022 at her home. Born in Greenfield, MA on March 28, 1932 a daughter of the late Donald Charles Fisk and A. Bertina (Grant) Fisk, she was the oldest of nine children.
Dorothy attended schools in Greenfield and moved to North Adams at the age of 15 and graduated from Drury High School with the Class of 1950. She was employed for many years at West Variety in North Adams from 1960-1977. She was also a member of the bowling league, YMCA, and enjoyed gardening, knitting, and she was a devoted mother. Dorothy was also a forty year cancer survivor.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, John Francis Kirby whom she married on April 9, 1949. He died on June 17, 1983. Dorothy leaves two sons Daniel F.Kirby and his wife Beverly of Stamford VT; Christopher G. Kirby of Adams; and her two daughters- Jennifer Kirby Hoag of North Adams; and Allison Kirby Lyons and her husband Reid of Petersburgh, NY; and two daughters in law- Shannon Mullen Kirby of Malta, NY, Melinda Muldowney Kirby of North Adams. She also leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy was predeceased by her children, Thomas F. Kirby, and Michael J. Kirby.
