Obituary for William Charles Lewis

William Charles Lewis, 83, of Williamstown passed away at home on Monday, February 14, 2022. He was born in North Adams on March 16, 1938, a son of Baden and Violet (Larabee) Lewis. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Frances Joan (Scarbo) Lewis, in 2017. Bill graduated from Drury High School in 1957 and was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He was employed for several years in management in the retail industry and was the proud owner of a Benjamin Franklin Store in Oxford, NY. Bill then was employed at General Electric Co. with the Ordinance Division for many years and retired from Williams College Buildings and Grounds Department.

Bill had a great love for the outdoors, from hunting and fishing, to planting flowers, birdwatching, and camping throughout the country. He was a skilled woodworker and carpenter, always tackling projects and willing to lend a hand. Bill was a devoted family man and steadfast friend.

Bill is survived by his two daughters, Sandralee Boucher and husband Dr. Kevin Boucher of Pomfret Center, CT and their children Major Kathryn Boucher and partner Russell Greene, Sarah Grubb and husband Andrew, Adam Boucher and wife Callie, Laura Sabourin and husband Timothy, and his daughter Jane Perras and husband Michael Perras of North Adams, and their children Michael Harpin, Jennifer Howard and husband Christopher, Karissa Ryan and husband Robert, and McKenzie “Max” Perras. He also leaves 15 great-grandchildren, sisters Patricia
McConnell (Stephen) and Cynthia Emery, and brothers Thomas Lewis (Cookie) and Foster Lewis (Dee Dee), his closest friend Jack Fosty, and his beloved dog Bailey. He was predeceased by his sister Dianne Hein and brother David Lewis (Lee).

Funeral services will take place Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams are Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home in his memory or memorial donations are suggested for The American Heart Association through the funeral home.
