Obituary for David Lee White

Our beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle and cousin David Lee White, 75, of Pittsfield passed away suddenly at Berkshire Medical Center on Monday February 21st, 2022. David was born on September 16th, 1946 to Argie Lee White and Rita Inez (Taglieri) White. David attended local schools, graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1965. After a year of college, David left to join the Air Force where he found his passion and stayed for the next 20 years, retiring as Staff Sergeant. David was a veteran of the Vietnam War. His tours included Vietnam, Thailand and Korea. After retiring, David returned to Pittsfield to be with family.

David is survived by his 5 children Michael White of Florida, Michele White of Georgia, Meghan White, Alexander White and Shelby White all of Pittsfield. He also leaves siblings Donald and Dyan White of Pittsfield and Debbi Kennedy of Florida. David was predeceased by his parents and sister Darlene White. He also leaves his 3 grandchildren Sherrod, Myla and Madalyn White, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be missed by all of us more than words can express.

David loved sports of all kinds and in his younger years played in the local Little League and Babe Ruth baseball, which he talked about until he was into his adulthood. Those memories stuck with him for a lifetime. He began playing golf while he was in the Air Force and became quite good at it as many of his family members will attest to. Golf was a hobby he shared with his sons Michael and Alexander. David was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Boston Bruins, New York Yankees, Alabama Crimson Tide and Los Angeles Lakers, a team he shared his love for with his daughter Michele. In his later years, his sport of choice was fishing. Probably honed while fishing with his dad and siblings off the Onota Causeway. David was known to spend his weekends bass fishing all day with his 3 children Meghan, Alex and Shelby at Nobody’s Road on Cheshire Lake. Many memories were made there and will be cherished forever. Most of all, David was a family man. There was nothing more important to him than his children and family. He will be missed immensely and we will all remember the impact he made on us.
