Obituary for Daniele DiNicola

Daniele DiNicola, 98 of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Pittsfield, MA died Thursday March 3, 2022 at Atrium Health-Pineville in Charlotte.
He was born in Sambuceto, commune of San Giovanni Teatino, Province of Chieti, Italy on December 13, 1923, a son of Mauro and Emilia DiNicola. He attended school in Italy.
Daniele was honorably discharged from the Italian Air Force. In 1952 he joined his brother Antonio in Lagunillas, Venezuela and worked for the Shell Oil company. He returned to Italy in 1958. Daniele came to the United States in 1971 and, once again joining his brother Antonio, was employed at General Electric Co. (GE) in Pittsfield in its Power Transformer Division for most of the time until his retirement. He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He enjoyed playing bocce with other church communicants and bowling in a local league. After retiring from GE, he enjoyed returning often to his native Sambuceto with his wife Irma to vacation for months at a time.
His wife was Irma (Gagliardi) DiNicola who died on May 21, 2014. They were married on June 6, 1952. Survivors include two sons - Bruno M. (Linda) DiNicola of El Paso, TX and Winston G. (Beth) DiNicola of Matthews, NC. He also leaves three grandchildren including Jenipher, Jane and AJ; two great-grandchildren - Tyler and Isabella Mandel; one sister- Anna DiNicola of Sambuceto, Italy and nieces and nephews in both Italy and United States. He survived five brothers and sisters – Mario DiNicola, Antonio DiNicola, Esterina DiNicola, Ida Di Brigida, Adelchi DiNicola.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Daniele DiNicola will be celebrated Saturday March 12, 2022 at 9:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield with Rev Steven Montesanti, officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, MA are Friday March 11 from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, at the request of his sons, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
