Obituary for Rita Beatrice Lapine (Letourneau)

Rita Beatrice (Letourneau) Lapine, 94 of Stamford, VT died on Wednesday May 11, 2022 at Bennington Health and Rehab.
She was born in Readsboro, VT on December 5, 1927, a daughter of Edward P. Letourneau and Blanche M. (Hurst) Letourneau. She attended schools in Readsboro and graduated from Whitingham High School with the class of 1945.
Rita worked for the Town of Readsboro as the assistant town clerk for about 8 years and then was the tax collector for the town for about 10 years. She also worked at Vermont Hardwoods.
She was a communicant of St. John Bosco and St. Joachim's Church. Rita enjoyed walking, knitting and crafts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the widow of Donald Ray Lapine who died on May 6, 1993. They were married on September 27, 1949. Survivors include two daughters- Janie M. Tatro of Stamford, VT and JoAnne M. (Thomas) Boudreau of Readsboro, VT and 11 grandchildren- Sarah Lapine, Jeffrey Lapine, Michael (Erin) Tatro, Benjamin (Lisa) Tatro, Hillary (Gabe) Oleson, Christopher Boudreau, Anne (John) Decker, Patrick Boudreau, Michele Boudreau, Andrew Boudreau and Michael Boudreau. She also leaves 11 great grandchildren including Dustin Lapine, Hannah Tatro, Carly Tatro, Benjamin Tatro, Caleb Tatro, Zebulon Oleson, Thaddeus Oleson, Avery Decker, Ella Decker Alexander Boudreau and Maximus Boudreau; her former daughter in law, Jeanne Lapine and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also predeceased by her son Grant P. Lapine on September 4, 2018; her son in law, Michael S. Tatro on November 17, 2019; and her grandson, Matthew Tatro on January 23, 2021. She was also predeceased by two brothers and one sister- Marie Letourneau, Edward Letourneau and Roger Letourneau.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Rita Lapine will be celebrated Monday May 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro, VT. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521West Main St. North Adams, MA are Sunday from 4-6 PM.
