Obituary for Carol K. Miller (Ringie)

Carol K. Miller, 78 of South Portland and formerly of North Adams, MA, died Wednesday June 15, 2022, in Portland, Maine surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Springfield, Vermont February 1, 1944, the daughter of Donald and Kathryn (Goddeau) Ringie. She grew up in North Adams and graduated from St. Joseph's High School. She went on to graduate from Berkshire Community College with a degree in Nursing.

Carol worked as a Registered Nurse at North Adams Regional Hospital for over thirty years. When she and her husband, Craig moved to Maine she worked at York Hospital until retirement. In retirement, she was a substitute school nurse in the Wells-Ogunquit School System.

When she wasn't working, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, cooking, walks on the beach, reading a good book and bird watching. She adored the many cardinals that frequented her yard.

Carol was loved by all who knew her. She always gave of herself for others and welcomed all with open arms. Her love for her family was unparalleled.

It was her faith and love for her husband and children that gave her the fortitude to battle stage 4 multiple myeloma which was in remission 16 years after having been diagnosed. She never gave up and endured a great deal over those 16 years. She lived far beyond her original prognosis.

Then the unthinkable happened in January 2022. Carol faced the biggest battle of her life when she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. Despite this devastating news, Carol always had a positive outlook and greeted each day with a smile. Her daughter, who was her caregiver was in awe at the strength that her mother had during her courageous fight.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, Craig to whom she was married to for 56 wonderful years.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Miller, and her companion Rick Tucci of South Portland; her son, Scott Miller of North Adams; her sister, Elaine Senecal and her husband Richard of North Adams and her grandchildren, Chelsea and Tyler Arabia, Noah Miller, and Giavanna Tucci.
