James Joseph Devanny III, 85 of Pittsfield, MA died Tuesday July 26, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born in Pittsfield, MA on July 3, 1937, a son of James Joseph Devanny II and Ethel (Campbell) Devanny. He attended local schools and graduated from St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1955.
Jim was last employed by the Berkshire Housing Authority. Before that, he worked for many years at the Sheaffer-Eaton Paper Company. Following his retirement, he worked as a funeral assistant at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Homes.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Jim was an avid fan of the University of Notre Dame football team and the Cleveland Indians. He especially cherished his trips to South Bend, Indiana with his family to watch his favorite team. Jim also enjoyed horse racing and trips to Saratoga.
He has been reunited with the love of his life, Frances Ann (Albano) Devanny who died on June 23, 2022. They were married on September 27, 1958. Survivors include three daughters- twins- Kelly A. Devanny and Karen M. (John) Devanny-Adams, both of Cheshire, CT and Kristine M. Devanny of Pittsfield, MA. He also leaves his grandson- Christopher Adams of Cheshire, CT and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis E. Devanny.
