Obituary for James D. Russo
James Dominick Russo, 86 of Pittsfield, MA, died on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born in Pittsfield, MA, on March 5, 1936, a son of the late George and Grace (Ruggerio) Russo. He attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School with the class of 1953. James was a former member of the Army Reserve.
Right after high school, he began working at General Electric in the Naval Ordinance Department where he worked for many years before retiring in 1991. While at GE, he worked at its plants in Virginia, Florida and Connecticut
James loved bowling and bowled at Ken's Bowl until the age of 84 when it closed. He also enjoyed playing pitch, golfing, and taking trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. James was a regular at the Highland Restaurant and was a member of the Berkshire Hill Country Club and the Italian American Club in Pittsfield. James always enjoyed a glass of red wine with his dinner and spending time with his family, especially during the holidays.
James leaves his daughter, Kim A. Leach and her husband Verne of Peru, MA; two grandchildren- Shana L. Lecours and Jamie M. Leach; two great grandchildren, Tyler Lecours and Trinity Lecours; a sister, Theresa Fiero of Pittsfield, MA, and several nieces and nephews. James is predeceased by his other sister, Minnie Barrington. His family would like to thank his close neighbors and friends, Francis B. and Susan H., who were there for him if he needed anything.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours to celebrate the life of James Russo will take place Friday February 3, 2023 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, MA. with a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will take at a later date in Pittsfield Cemetery.
