Obituary for Jane Louise Widitor (Kobritz)
Beloved mother and grandmother, Jane Louise (Kobritz) Widitor, 91 of Pittsfield, MA died on Monday March 6, 2023 at Mount Carmel Care Center in Lenox.
Mrs. Widitor was born in Pittsfield, MA on April 15, 1931, the daughter of Charles J. and Sadie (Zalutsky) Kobritz. Jane graduated from Pittsfield High School as part of the Class of 1948 and attended Simmons College in Boston.
Jane was a longtime devoted member of Congregation Knesset Israel Synagogue. She was instrumental in many community activities such as the synagogue Sisterhood. She also helped to develop the synagogue’s library. Jane was a lifetime member of Hadassah, a national Jewish woman’s group.
A truly nurturing woman, Jane lovingly raised three sons and thereafter assisted her family in the operation of Tyler Home Supply.
She married her husband, Jack Widitor, on January 7, 1951. They remained married for 65 years until his death on February 10, 2016. She is survived by her three sons. Scott Widitor of Pittsfield and twins- Peter E. Widitor of Pittsfield and David B. Widitor of Brooklyn, NY. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 4 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Nathan Kobritz and one sister, Rose Lazerus.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Jane Widitor will be Wednesday March 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Congregation Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Rd. Pittsfield, MA with Rabbi David Weiner officiating.
