Obituary for Alfred Harry "Al" George

Longtime area business owner, Alfred “Al” Harry George, 85, of Eagle Bridge, New York died peacefully on Saturday June 3, 2023 at his beloved September Farm.
He was born in North Adams, MA on September 10, 1937, a son of the late Harry Alfred George and Helen (Hickey) George.
Al graduated from Drury High School and studied business at Northampton Commercial College. He was in the Massachusetts National Guard and member of the MCLA Foundation. His parents started H. A. George and Sons Fuel Corporation in the early 1950’s. Al expanded the company by founding George Propane in Goshen, MA. In retirement, he returned to his farming roots at September Farm with his horse, Jack, and his high school sweetheart, Nancy.
Survivors include the love of his life and faithful wife, Nancy (Lasher) George, whom he was married to for 62 years; Daughter Julie George-Goss and three sons Michael, Mark and Christopher George. He was the proud Papa to nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Alexandra, Victoria, Connor, Caroline, Harry, Graham, Lauren, Christopher, Augustine, Kenley and Deck. He is also survived by his two brothers, Donald and Lawrence George, and several nieces and nephews.
Al will always be remembered for his quick wit, Irish smile and frugal spirit. His legacy of hard work and savvy investing set the groundwork for a multigenerational family business.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Visiting hours and life celebration will take place Thursday June 8, 2023 from 10 AM-12 PM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA.
