Obituary for Calli Elizabeth (Yorke) Bacon, MSN, APRN, FNP

Calli Elizabeth (Yorke) Bacon, 38, joined her best friend, Gramma Bea, in Heaven on January 21, 2024. She passed surrounded by family under the care of Nathan Adelson Hospice in Nevada after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Calli was born in North Adams, MA on August 19, 1985 sharing her maternal grandfather’s birthday. She grew up on the east side of North Adams near family and neighborhood friends. She began taking dance lessons at age 3 and danced for 13 years ending with The Berkshire Dance Theater before heading to college. Calli attended Miss Halls’s School as a Berkshire Scholar and Drury High School as dual enrollment MCLA student, graduating high school in 3 years with high honors, ranked ninth in her class. She was accepted as an early decision student to Skidmore College’s Classics Program. Calli soon decided classics was not her passion and pursued her Emergency Medical Technician certification.
After joining the North Adams Ambulance squad, Calli loved the adrenaline rush of emergency medicine and first response and joined the Stamford, VT Volunteer Fire Department where she met her future husband Jeremy in a training class. She later also joined the Pownal Volunteer Fire Department and became the first female Vermont certified Firefighter I in the county. She then attended Berkshire Community College taking an interest in fire science. While working as an EMT, Calli received the Lifesaver Award from the Berkshire County Emergency Medical Association. Calli also worked for Village Ambulance in Williamstown, MA and was awarded EMT of the Year. She was a certified Emergency Medical Technician in Massachusetts; EMT, Paramedic, Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in Florida; Firefighter 1, Vermont; licensed Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in Nevada.
Calli and Jeremy were married March 11, 2006 and moved to Cape Coral, Florida at the end of that year. While Calli and Jeremy lived in Cape Coral, Calli pursued her Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in nursing from Edison College/Florida Southwest State College, earning Honor Society, Dean’s List and her Registered Nurse BSN licenses/certifications. Calli and Jeremy welcomed their daughter Hayli in 2009.
Calli worked as a Registered Nurse in various emergency departments, quality control and the Hazmat Team in Charlotte, Lee and Collier counties in Florida. Always trying to better herself and life for her family, Calli graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2019 with her Master of Science in Nursing and passing her ANCC national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After beginning in urgent care, Calli accepted a position at Keck Medicine of USC/Culinary Workers Union in Las Vegas, NV and the family moved cross-country during the Covid pandemic and missing a major Florida hurricane. After attempting to settle into a new city and a job change, Calli became increasingly ill and the eventual diagnosis was cancer. Calli felt she lived a lot of life in a short amount of time. She said long ago she knew she would not live to old age. When she had a chance for an adventure, she took it - whether it was a firefighter exam, skydiving, roller coasters, mosh pits, backstage, the NFL Draft, VIP suites, tattoo conventions or moving cross country. She enjoyed it with her favorite people and didn’t regret a moment.
Cal leaves behind her favorite people, husband Jeremy P. Bacon and her daughter Hayli N. Bacon of whom she is extremely proud, of Las Vegas, NV; her loving parents, David W. and Natalie Connie Yorke of Stamford, VT; loving brother, David W. Yorke, Jr. and his children PJ, Kolby, Ariana and Lucian of North Adams, MA; cousins Nicole Rondeau of Haughton, LA and Sarah Hurlbut of Clarksburg, MA who provided strength, comfort and moral support; aunts and uncles Jane and David Crews, Thane and Shannon Yorke, Nancy and Michael Lewis and Chris Yorke (Godfather); Godmother MaryLou Accetta; parents-in-law Susan and Phil Bush; many more cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. She also leaves second mom Anita Konopka Moser; her feline best friend Luxor and housemate Babu.
Calli joins in eternity her maternal grandparents Isabelle and Leo Grillone, paternal grandparents David and Agnes Yorke, her friend Joey Venincasa and her long time kitty companion Woog, along with many other loved ones.
