Obituary for Eileen H. Buzzanco (Major)
Eileen H. Buzzanco, 72 of Pittsfield passed away January 8, 2017 after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer.
Daughter of the late Thomas Major & Isabelle St. John Major. She graduated from Lee High School and Berkshire Business College.
In 1967 she married Anthony "Buzz" Buzzanco who shared her interest of wildlife and art. They moved to Bedford NY where they raised their 3 children. What started as a hobby began her career in wildlife art. Eileen's talent and creativity won her various awards for her paintings, carvings and clay sculptures.
In the late 1980's she illustrated a series of children's books for the Smithsonian Institute. In addition to art, Eileen pursued a career in business management. Her ambition led her to become a Manager, a Director then a VP which brought her to California in 1995 and then to Seattle Washington in 2005. She retired in 2010 allowing her to enjoy her home in the woods. There she would watch the eagles fly above, listen to the howl of the coyotes, watch the squirrels play and the birds gather around her feeders.
In 2014 she returned to Pittsfield to be closer to her family and friends. Eileen's love, strength, wisdom, generosity and caring nature touched the lives of so many, she will be greatly missed.
Besides her husband, she is survived by 3 children, Jeff, David and Diane, her beloved Yorkies, Ginger and Pebbles, 3 Sisters, Peg Dugan (Rick), Marilyn Whitmarsh (Ronnie) and Nancy Mandell (Danny), sister-in-law, Lori Broderick and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Eileen's dear friend Linda Slonski and Eileen's sister-in-law, Lori for their ongoing support, friendship and compassion.
